Born in Dubai to Portuguese and English heritage, Sam witnessed the city’s rapid rise into one of the world’s fastest-growing urban centres. Raised in a home that celebrated arts and crafts through custom pieces and curated family artefacts, creativity was part of daily life. Moving to Portugal as a teenager exposed contrasts in social realities and how design and architecture were accessible to only a few—sparking a lasting ambition to use design to improve people’s lives.

After studying at the Leeds School of Architecture, he moved to London and worked as a Architectural Designer at leading studios including Soho House Group, Banda Property, Perkins & Will, and Thurston. Over the course of his career, he has contributed to numerous award-winning and high-end hospitality projects.

His experience spans new-build architectural projects in Central London to highly detailed hospitality interiors. From stand-alone venues to working in-house for one of the most respected hospitality and members’ club brands, this journey has shaped a versatile and well-rounded skill set.

His return to Portugal was driven by a desire to contribute to his home country, bringing sustainable, versatile, holistic design approaches shaped by international experience. A deep understanding of local culture, history, and ways of working enables projects that authentically bridge heritage with an international perspective.
